H.E. Harini Amarasuriya, Prime Minister of Sri Lanka Joins the Council

We are pleased to announce that H.E. Dr. Harini Amarasuriya, Prime Minister of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, has joined the Council of Women World Leaders.

Dr. Harini Amarasuriya was sworn in as the 17th Prime Minister of Sri Lanka on 18 November 2024. The Prime Minister also serves as the Minister of Education, Higher Education and Vocational Education.

Her multifaceted career spans academia, social activism and grassroots politics, with a focus on youth issues, human rights and social development. She is currently serving the country as a prominent Sri Lankan scholar, social activist and politician.

We are honored to welcome Prime Minister Amarasuriya to this distinguished network of current and former women presidents and prime ministers. Her leadership, grounded in a deep commitment to education, equity, and inclusive governance, embodies the values and mission of the Council.
