CWWL Chair Katrín Jakobsdóttir participates in Women Leaders' Virtual
Roundtable on COVID-19
On April 20, 2020 Chair of the Council of Women World Leaders Prime Minister Katrín Jakobsdóttir participated in a Women Leaders' Virtual Roundtable on COVID-19 in conjunction with UN Women. Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka, Executive Director of UN Women along with Gabriela Ramos, OECD Chief of Staff and Sherpa to the G20 hosted the event. This event discussed the disproportionately negative impact that COVID-19 has on women and girls. Furthermore, these women leaders spoke about identifying and prioritizing policies that facilitate a recovery path that is more gender-inclusive. This group of women leaders included Heads of State and Government, leaders in civil society, heads of global women's movements as well as youth leaders. A key goal that was discussed is ensuring greater women leaders and amplifying women's voices throughout the COVID-19 response process.
